Elise Franco
Elise Franco is a lawyer, yoga teacher and artist.
On a daily basis, she collaborates with Tipik Legal on legal European projects, she teaches psycho-physical relaxation techniques in the physiotherapy programme at UCL, and trains future yoga teachers.
Today, her works are exhibited at the Florence Biennale and the Toolip Art Gallery in Vienna.
After living in Italy and spending time in Central America and Canada, Elise settled in Belgium, in Louvain-la-Neuve. She studied law and then worked as a lawyer before moving into the field of wellbeing and taking an interest in issues of empowerment and physicality. Seeking to enable everyone to learn to feel their personal space, she founded the PracticeYoga centre in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve in 2019.
Since 2023, she has been involved in the HELB university certificate programme on the dynamics of violence against women. With the non-profit organisation FemandLaw, she contributed to the book ‘Code de droits des femmes’ (Women's Rights Code) and published the scientific article ‘Le yoga : un outil de résilience face aux diktats patriarcaux ?’ (Yoga: a tool for resilience in the face of patriarchal dictates?) with the non-profit organisation Corpsécrits.
In 2013, she won the municipal prize in the ‘Il grappolo d'oro’ poetry competition organised by the City of Bardolino in the province of Verona (Italy). She then discovered painting and drawing and attended Isabelle Malotaux's classes and workshops. Her artistic work on the theme of gender has been exhibited several times by the Placet centre and presented at the International Women's Collective Conference in 2022 and 2023. She organised her first solo exhibition in the Quatrequarts exhibition hall in Court-Saint-Etienne in 2023 and took part in the Louvain-la-Neuve artist trail for the first time in 2024.
